Mya Proctor

Student Spotlight – November 2022

Mya Proctor is working on earning her Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology here at PTC.

“I’ve always known I wanted to pursue a hands-on career, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in a field I was interested in, where I could learn new things every day, and could grow in my field. I found that here at PTC.”

Her goal after graduation is to find a job in the Electronics Engineering Technology field so that she will be able to support herself, her goals, and her dreams.

Why did you choose PTC?

I chose to come to PTC to further my education because of the great opportunities they have here. I love PTC because of the learning environment they provide. Though I am only in my second quarter, I have already built so many different circuits and leaned on my instructors and the staff when I needed them.

Peter Anderson

November 7, 2022

Student Spotlight – November 2022

Peter Anderson has lived in Pennsylvania for his entire life, he moved around a few times but never too far from Pittsburgh. When he first started college, he decided to declare Business as his major prior to learning about the IT program here at PTC.

What is your program of study?

My program of study is Information Technology.

Why did you choose PTC?

I chose to come to PTC because of the impressive IT program and hands-on-experience, as well as being very affordable compared to other colleges. Though my plans for after graduation are unclear, I would like to have a nice job, get a good place of my own, and use that time to focus on me.

Student Spotlight – July 2022

What is your program of study?

My program of study is Information Technology.

Why did you choose PTC?

I chose PTC because it was local. I didn’t want to be too far away from family.

I only have one club so far, the Rainbow Alliance

Who is your role model(s)?

My role models in my life would have to be my father and bill gates. My father was the one who introduced me to computers and taught me, and I’ve always looked up to Mr. Gates because of his philanthropy.

What Diversity and Inclusion mean to you?

Diversity and inclusion mean a bit to me. Diversity, to me, means that everyone should be able to be themselves, regardless of their race, gender, sexual orientation, or religion. The inclusion part of Diversity and Inclusion, to me, means that we should treat everyone with kindness and include them in whatever events may be going on.

How is DEI demonstrated at PTC?

This is reflected at PTC by the staff and the students. The staff listen to everyone when they have a question or concern, and actively try their best to adapt to each student’s situation. The students are very tolerant of other peoples’ backgrounds and actively try to include others whenever possible.

Student Spotlight – July 2022

What is your program of study?

My program of study is Graphic Design.

Why did you choose PTC?
Most of my life, I have mostly been messing around on a computer without a care in the world. That was, until I discovered I took a great interest in editing photos I took in some of the games. Then, I eventually explored this interest until I figured out, I wanted to do similar activities in that field with my future. It took some looking, but I soon came across PTC. Not only was I drawn in by the quick paced teaching, but I was also attracted to the activities the campus held throughout the year!

Clubs and Memberships:
I am currently President of both the Rainbow Alliance club and the Anime Club

What Diversity and Inclusion mean to you?
Diversity and Inclusion are both incredibly important subjects to me, and I strive to create environments that encourage them whenever I can. I want to give peers, friends, family, and even strangers alike a chance to feel like they are important and, in the moment, like they are playing a part in something fun and enjoyable. I don’t want anyone to be silenced or considered lower just because of who they are.

How is DEI demonstrated at PTC?

After being at PTC for almost a year now, I can surely say that PTC is accomplishing its goal at providing a safe environment for everyone. Not only is there a club that is meant to educate on LGBTQ+ matters and what it means to be prideful, but also a DEI group with the task of promoting inclusion!

Student Spotlight – May 2022

Christian Young, Multi-Media

I chose PTC because it has always been my dream to go here. I remember in my sophomore year of high school I had made an entire presentation of the school and why I wanted to attend. It’s a great school, affordable, and very worth it.

My program of study is Multi-Media and I graduate in September 2022.

Dai Aundre Minor

Student Spotlight – May 2022

Dai Aundre Minor, Multimedia Video Production

I chose PTC because I heard of their video production program through a Delaware State English Professor and what they offered, it wasn’t too far from home and me and friends discussed attending this school together along with its affordability. My decision was also influenced to gain new fresh start in an area I’ve never been.

My program of study is Multimedia Video Production and I graduate September of 2022.

Julianne Brooks

Student Spotlight – May 2022

Julianne Brooks, Sciences of Culinary Arts

I chose PTC because it’s close to home and I needed to be close to my family. I knew about PTC when I was in high school because it was right in the back yard of my tech school parkway west CTC. I met some of the instructors here at PTC through parkway and knew this school would be the right fit for me. I am a culinary arts associates degree major, and I graduate in December of 2022. I will then have an associate degree in the sciences of culinary arts and be a graduate of PTC.

What does Diversity, Equity and Inclusion mean to you?

Diversity is having a seat at the table, Inclusion is having a voice, and Equity is about having that voice be heard. It’s about giving value to every human being, no matter our differences.

What, in your opinion, is PTC doing to create a more inclusive environment?

PTC has done a great job in creating an inclusive environment by creating clubs, social activities, and sports events. I’m looking forward to what the future holds for the student body.

Is there someone at PTC who has significantly contributed to your success?

I would like to thank Mr. Rossell and Mr. Lynch, two of my teachers who have supported me from the beginning. I also have great friends who always keep me on my toes. I’ve made many amazing friends here at PTC who want to see me succeed.

Who is your hero?  Why?

One of my favorite heroes is my mother. Everyone grows up with struggles and not many people have someone to tell them it’ll be alright. She’s another person who has significantly contributed to my success.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

Diversity is not about how we differ. Diversity is about embracing one another’s uniqueness.
